Model 426 pipeline metal detection system has been developed to inspect products such as meat slurries, jams, sauces, and dairy products. This system is USDA approved for federally inspected meat and poultry applications.

The compact design includes a rotary activated valve, inspection tube, metal detector search head, and air controls. This package can be ceiling suspended or mounted on a mobile floor stand. The control unit can be mounted either to the system frame or remotely in your plant.

Utilizing the latest in Digital Signal Processing technology, the DSP control unit delivers the highest level of metal detection to date.  The advanced user-friendly interface allows quick and easy application setup. A comprehensive self-diagnostic system monitors the metal detectors performance for potential circuitry changes, it is also capable of sensing the speed and position of the reject gate. A multi-level password security system insures maximum performance by limiting access to critical settings.

Model 426 – H is a hinge mounted pipeline system for use on sausage stuffer machines, such as the Handtmann VF20 or Vemag DC100. This system includes the same items as listed above. Available in hinge mounted or floor stand design.

Design Considerations

• Product flow rate. 
• Increased flow rates increase the distance between the search head and the valve
• Product temperature.
• Our standard nylon 66 pipe is rated for temperatures upto 160° F. Teflon pipes can be used for greater temperatures.

Product pressure.

  pressures.

Testing Procedure

When using an in line metal detection system you should consider how the system will be tested. There are two basic methods for testing the model 426 pipeline system.

1) In line insertion

This method is the only way to confirm that the whole system is functioning correctly. During a test procedure you would insert a metal contaminate into the product flow. A second valve after the metal detection system should be installed to capture the test product in a holding vessel. If all works correctly you would divert the metal contaminate into the reject bin. If for any reason the system fails you will be able to recover the metal sample in the holding vessel.

2) Metal Detector Test

To determine that the system is detecting metal and operating the reject device, you can pass a metal sample between the product tube and the search head. This method however, does not confirm that metal within the product would be rejected correctly. Method 1 should be the primary testing procedure.

DSPnet is a Windows compatible software package which will output data for use with Excel, Lotus, and other Windows packages.

With the advanced technology engineered into the DSP series metal detectors, networking can be achieved with affordable RS-485 standard communication. Simple ‘Daisy Chain’ connections from each metal detector to your PC will give you automatic record generation. Plus many other features.

These are the receiving or input coils

Since the receiving coils are equally spaced from the oscillator, they receive equal mounts of signal. The coils are wound in such a way that their signals oppose each other; therefore, the net signal across the coil is zero.

When a piece of metal enters within the electromagnetic field, it alters the field strength around it. As this metal passes through the aperture, it changes the balance of the receiving coils so that the net signal is no longer zero. This error is then greatly amplified, compared in phase to the original oscillator signal and passed to the timing circuits. Eventually, it operates the reject relay.
