While no vehicle is entirely theft-proof, Ford is so confident in its ability to prevent your F-150 from being stolen that it’s willing to put its money where its mouth is.
The automaker is rolling out what it calls the Ford Security Package – a subscription model that offers top-notch security features including the ability to send tampering or theft notifications to an owner’s phone. This is paired with a function called “Start Inhibit,” which allows vehicle owners to disable their ignition right from their phone, even if the tamperer has their key.
The package also comes with a hotline that’s staffed 24/7 with agents who say they work with law enforcement to help track a stolen vehicle.

But a stolen vehicle is the worst case scenario. Ford believes the suite of preventative solutions will be so effective, that it’s willing to potentially pay owners up to $2,500 to cover their insurance deductibles should their vehicle be stolen. And the program’s fine print serves as a safeguard against potential fraud: the payout will only take place if the vehicle is not recovered or is recovered with damage.
Carscoops says Ford is initially rolling out the program within its F-150 models and select Super Duty trims. A free one year subscription becomes $7.99 a month after that.
Ford’s general manager of Safety and Security Services, Christian Moran told the Detroit Free Press that vehicle thieves these days are “using increasingly sophisticated methods” which is why it’s critical the Ford Security Package “simultaneously introduces physical, electronic and communication-based barriers to a thief’s success.”
According to the National Insurance Crime Bureau, more than a million vehicles were stolen in the US in 2023. The F-series pickup was the 9th most stolen of all the vehicle models evaluated.
